November 27, 2025 — aka the day the internet collectively went “wait… WHAT?”
So uh… remember when Pokémon Unite was just casually vibing, letting us dunk on a Snorlax while wearing questionable seasonal outfits? Yeah. In three days, the game officially peaces out in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Not a drill. Not a rumor. Straight from the source:
“Thank you to everyone for your continued support of Pokémon UNITE. Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to end service for Pokémon UNITE in Belgium and the Netherlands from November 30, 2025… The app will no longer be available to download on mobile devices or Nintendo Switch beyond that date.”

What’s Actually Happening?
The Pokémon Company + TiMi basically said:
✨ Thanks for playing, but this is where we log off. ✨
- Service ends: November 30, 2025
- No more downloads: after that date
- Subscriptions + in-game purchases ended: since October 31, 2024
- Reason given: literally none
- Actual reason: we can all read between the Pikachu-shaped lines
GamesIndustry.biz spelled it out gently-but-not-gently:
…most likely due to restrictions on loot boxes in both regions.
Pokémon Unite’s “Prize Machine” requires in-game currency (aka real money → shiny cosmetics), which is a no-go.

Quick Legal Lore Drop
- Belgium: loot boxes = gambling = illegal to sell
- Netherlands: not technically gambling, but the government said “loot boxes? no thanks” back in July 2023 and started pursuing a ban
So basically, Unite didn’t get Thanos snapped worldwide—just in places where the Prize Machine mechanic crossed the wrong legal bridge.
How Are Players Taking It?
Imagine logging in for your daily rewards like:
👋 “Hey Trainers!”
💀 Service terminating in 3 days
Internet mood:
- 30% confusion
- 40% sadness
- 30% “guess I’ll go touch grass or download another MOBA”
Final Thought Before the Shutdown Counter Hits Zero
Whether you were:
- grinding ranked at 3AM
- rage-quitting over Zapdos
- or just enjoying Eldegoss being the best support mom in gaming
…this is truly the end of an era—for at least two countries.
Pour one out, Trainers.
Three days left to score your final goal. 🕯️⚡️🏆
